Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB)

Pan-American School is committed to fostering, cultivating and preserving a culture of diversity, inclusion, equity and belonging. Members of our learning community come from across the globe and share our values of excellence, responsibility, solidarity, honesty and respect. We know that having a diverse and inclusive community creates strength, compassion and sustainable ways of being. Together, we create a kind, accepting and safe environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity – a community of students, teachers, parents and alumni who make a positive difference in the lives of others locally and globally.

DEIB is further defined as:

  • Diversity: The condition of being different or having differences.

  • Equity: Fair treatment for all while striving to identify and eliminate inequities and barriers.

  • Inclusion: Ensuring that everyone is included, visible, heard and considered.

  • Belonging: Ensuring that everyone is treated and feels like a full member of our learning community, and can thrive within and beyond it.

At Pan-American School we recognize that every member of the community has different beliefs and ways of living and that these provide opportunities to reinforce institutional values through shared experience and dialogue.  The Mission of Pan-American School is to prepare students to encounter a wide range of themes in an honest and respectful manner with the aim of promoting the development of values, critical attitudes, and maturity of judgment.

Within this philosophical framework, Pan-American School does not aim to promote specific agendas, but to promote a culture of equal rights and responsibilities and non-discrimination among people. Therefore, the school does not allow or initiate activities that, by their nature, promote the collision of rights between members of the community. When these arise out of the normal educational process, the school will maintain a neutral, prudent and equitable position.
